Do Not Learn To Code: The No Code/Low Code Movement and Platforms

The Low and No Code Movement, a.k.a. LoCoNoCo creates more opportunities by reducing the barriers to entry into career paths in the tech industry and has specifically found popularity in the areas of web development and design. Although the same opportunities can also cripple the growth of the industry and the potential of its future professionals.

What is the No Code Movement

No code platforms usually refer to cloud-based software, which allow businesses to create aspects of an application without writing code. They can build mobile and web applications and chatbots for digital marketing or customer insights, in minutes.

The No Code Movement started growing recently as more companies are encouraged to offer no coding roles in their teams, organizations so that they can engage with the whole workforce at different levels.

This kind of “high touch” approach also offers a balanced career perspective for professionals with different education narratives who often give up real engineering jobs after discovering that coding is not suitable for them because of underlying reasons such as social anxiety or behavioral issues in general.

The Impact of the No Code Movement on the Educational System

The No Code Movement is revolutionizing the way people learn and create software. It has enabled people to build complex applications without having to write code, making it easier for anyone to get started with coding.

This movement has had a huge impact on the educational system, making coding more accessible and allowing students of all backgrounds and ages to learn how to code. With no-code tools, teachers can create custom projects for their students that are tailored to their needs. This enables them to provide a better learning experience that encourages creativity and problem-solving skills.

No-code tools also have the potential to reduce the cost of teaching coding in schools as they require fewer resources than traditional coding classes. This could help make coding more accessible for everyone, regardless of their financial situation or background.

While traditional coding programs require in-depth training, low code platforms are beneficial for individuals who do not consider themselves software developers.

Unlike traditional coding programs, low code platforms require minimal training and are beneficial for individuals who don't consider themselves software developers, helping them to get started and build projects and applications faster. With the help of these platforms, users can quickly build powerful applications with just a few clicks. Low code platforms offer a wide range of features such as drag-and-drop interfaces, reusable components and visual modeling tools that make it easy for anyone to create an application without having to write any code. Focusing more on the user friendly aspects of the tool rather than user having to start with experience as a computer science or programming background. Furthermore, these platforms reduce development time and cost significantly, making them ideal for businesses looking to launch their own applications quickly and cost-effectively.

How to Choose The Right Low-Code Platform for Your Needs

With the increasing demand for low-code platforms, it has become more important than ever to choose the right one for your needs. Low-code platforms can help businesses quickly develop applications without writing code. But with so many options available, it can be difficult to decide which one is best suited for your needs.

In this article, we will discuss some of the key factors to consider when choosing a low-code platform. We will also look at some of the use cases of low-code platforms and how they can help you build faster and more efficiently. Finally, we will provide some tips on how to select the right platform for your business needs.

Uses for low-code/no-code development platforms

Low-code and no-code development platforms make it possible to create applications, even for complex tasks. They are ideal for businesses or technical requirements that don't necessitate a lot of programming or customization work.

Such platforms provide great opportunities to build apps that can lead to enhanced operational efficiency by getting rid of manual or paper-based processes, and helping with business process management. Apps developed by employees or business owners that are not programming professionals, but experienced with the challenges of their professions can modernize legacy systems, assist their organizations to make the most of digital transformation, and create applications that can be the first stage of developing new digital offerings. Working as a bridge between the current state of business to innovating technology.

Furthermore, these platforms can be used to create business apps used by workers, as well as apps used by business partners. While some platforms are better at developing tools for some industries or business needs than others;

Low-code development platforms

There are dozens of mainstream and niche software vendors that offer low- or no-code platforms, many of which run in the cloud. Gartner ranks nearly 20 in its "2020 Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms.

Here list of some of the most common low-code platform vendors and tools includes:

No-code development platforms

Many low-code platforms offer no-code functionality as well, such as Appian, Microsoft PowerApps, and Salesforce Lightning.

Here are a few platforms that are the perfect low-code platforms for you to build the ideal tools for your small business or entrepreneur platform. I have you in mind content creators! Stop relying on social media tools, and make some of your own to develop and maximize your connection with your audience:

  • AWS Honeycode

    • Who doesn’t like honey, I mean really. And we all have ordered something from Amazon. Well Amazon is easily the go to place to find pretty much anything. AWS Honeycode makes building apps and programming tools a pretty sweet task…see what I did there. Honey. Sweet. Do you get it? Ok well, AWS Honeycode has great pre-made templates for processes and tasks that you can customize to make the app you need not completely from scratch but instead from an already refined design and build it to suit your needs. This platform is a great start if you are apprehensive and don’t know how or where to start.

  • Bubble

    • Trusted by tech firms such as Lyft to major beauty brands like L’Oreal. There is very little you cannot build with Bubble. I have used it for several clients. Automate all your administrative tasks to free up time, build an app that creates a more in-depth connection with your audience,

  • Glide

    • Glide is like a cool hybrid between the aforementioned Bubble; and another one of my favorite No-code platforms, Zapier, which is coming up. From creating very complex automations and workflows into refined app to make the process easier, or quickly making an app that reduces the time you go through email, Glide is a good go to tool. Offering a good amount of free options, the premium version of this tool is more than worth the investment.

  • MailChimp

    • The gold standard in email marketing is also a great platform to build capture pages and easy connections between your CRM, CMS, and advertising tools. Without needed to code/program anything from scratch. MailChimp over the years has easily become the best email marketing platform for any size marketing, data collection, and promotional campaign. This monkey is crazy and well worth your time.

  • Quickbase

    • Custom made CRMs, Project Management tools, databases, and much more. All can be made on one platform and you won’t need HTM5, JavaScript, or Python. What I like the most about Quickbase is that it can be as complex or simplified as you want it to be. It is a blank page developed your way. Applications designed using Quickbase are used by Fortune 500 businesses such as Walgreens Boots Alliance and AmerisourceBergen, and Jones Lang LaSalle. Quickbase is a quick solution to create apps and tools without extensive programming knowledge.

  • Stripe

    • Managing and understanding your business finances can be complicated on its own. Heck, so can personal finances for that matter. Stripe is the ultimate financial platform to manage your business and personal finances. Moreover, the integrations to website builders, online payment gateways, business formation platforms make Stripe an essential tool to develop your business, whether you are a freelancer or small business owner.

  • Wix

    • For the first time a website builder that rivaled platforms such as WordPress but with an emphasis on easier to use and understand user interface. Wix literally changed the game of web design. Although having your website built from scratch is ideal and unparalleled, Wix is one of the best platforms to get your business online fast and looking professional. Your site on Wix is complex, well-developed, and unique as you want it to be.

  • Zapier

    • The best platform to connect and integrate all of your marketing, sales, advertising, analytic tools with ease. We use Zapier at EMPro, Ltd and this saves time so we can focus on client work and producing quality content.

The Movements Impact on Jobs

Keep in mind that LoCoNoCo is not synonymous with No Skill. Skills, especially interpersonal skills are currently in high demand and will be more of a requirement over the next 20-years. As we continue to focus on working remotely, building project-based work environments instead of business as usual operations that apps and automations built on these platforms help business owners utilize.

The no code and low code movement is revolutionizing the way application development is done. It is bringing about a new wave of innovation by allowing non-programmers to build applications with ease. Low code platforms are making it easier for businesses to create their own applications without having to hire a team of developers, and get work done faster at lower costs. But it will not replace the need for software developers and programmers because of the simple fact - these platforms are created by software developers, engineers, and programmers. These platforms are great launch pads but will never become replacements for skilled and talented professional developers, if anything it may actually help to inspire more people to become developers.
